Vehicle presented with a no-start condition and a camshaft/crankshaft correlation mismatch fault. The crankshaft sensor had been replaced several weeks earlier.

Further diagnosis found the timing chain assembly had previously been repaired incorrectly by another workshop, with the timing chain tensioners secured together using zip ties.

Repairs carried out:

  • Removed and replaced timing chain
  • Replaced timing chain tensioner
  • Replaced timing chain guides
  • Replaced two missing timing cover bolts
  • Removed and re-sealed sump
  • Replaced rocker cover gasket kit
  • Replaced engine oil and oil filter
  • Reassembled engine and checked operation

Vehicle now starts, runs and drives.

Important: Due to the previous incorrect timing repair and the no-start condition, any internal engine damage that may have already occurred cannot be confirmed or ruled out.
