Here we have the JRP SS EGT v3 probe & cable. Over the years of selling gauges that use EGT sensors we have learned a few things about what makes a great exhaust gas temperature sensor, and which parts of the design need some extra attention to improve longevity of the sensors in certain vehicles or applications that can be rough on the sensors. We have thousands of vehicles in the market running our EGT sensors, so when developing the JRP EGT v3 we had a lot of real world feedback to draw on for what improvements we could make to our v3 models to make them a step up from our good old v2’s.

For customers of our gauge products that would like to upgrade from the v2 sensors supplied with gauges bought in the past, these latest JRP EGT v3 will plug right into any of our gauge products that use EGT, such as the 14in1 multi gauge or the Edge 52mm range as well. We are also selling these latest EGT sensors separately for customers wanting a superior quality EGT sensor for their aftermarket ECU’s or dataloggers.

The JRP EGT v3 sensors have had improvements made to their design in a few important areas, first is we have moved to a 2520 stainless steel probe body and increased the thickness of the probe itself from 3mm to 4mm which will better protect the induction point inside the probe for better durability and longevity. The probe design itself has also been improved, it now tapers down from the top to tip. Just like the v2 EGT sensors the v3 is using multi-core wire, one of the major killers of cheaper EGT sensors supplied with a lot of aftermarket gauges out there is them using single core wire, the JRP EGT v3 probe is using 16 AWG high quality multi core wire from the induction point back to the Deutsch connector. The induction point on the v3’s are shielded to ensure no external grounds can make it into the sensors to cause inaccurate readings from any leaky earths that may be lurking in the vehicle. The response rates of the v3’s has also been improved slightly over our v2’s as well, not that our v2’s are slow to begin with, one of the most common bits of positive feedback we receive on our v2 sensors is how responsive they are, but we have managed to improve on that again with our v3’s. Accuracy is of course paramount, and just like our v2’s the v3’s are incredibly accurate and have been reference tested by our workshop customers to fall within 1% of their dyno EGT setups.

We just want to clarify that we still continue to sell our v2 EGT sensors, and the reason is because they are still a terrific EGT sensor, all of our EGT products such as our multi gauge, Edge 52mm EGT gauges come standard with our EGT v2, because as mentioned they still are a terrific EGT sensor and we manage to produce them at an extremely reasonable cost. But over the years, there are customers that really give EGT sensors a hard time, the guys running super lean Naturally Aspirated vehicles which run EGT temps in the 900’s most of their time, to the serious off-road diesel guys who have a history of breaking lots of EGT sensors, and for these guys we have produced what we believe to be the toughest little EGT sensor solution that will take more punishment that our v2’s without costing a fortune to upgrade to. Being the v2 are still a great sensor, rather than just make them redundant and only sell the v3’s which would then force all customers to pay more, we have made it an option for customers, want the best upgrade to the v3, or if you have a history of hammering EGT sensors, upgrade to the v3. But if cost is a factor, there is nothing wrong with our v2 sensors and they will work well in most applications, so if upgrading to the v3 is a bit over budget, then the v2 is still a great sensor and option. It’s just part of our commitment here at JRP to make sure we cater for as many different customer types, budgets & usage scenarios as we can.
